Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (or ILL, for short) is a service for patrons of APLD to borrow books, videos, DVDs, or sound recordings that are owned by another library system. APLD offers this service because it isn’t always possible to acquire an item for our permanent collection. However, through ILL the library is able to provide you with a much greater amount of material.
To make an ILL request you will need:
A library membership in good standing
All pertinent information about the item you’re requesting
- Your current contact information
Most items will require 10 business days to receive and the circulation period is set by the lending library. Renewing items is not always possible, but in most cases one renewal is allowed by the lender upon request.
To request materials through Interlibrary Loan, use the form below, contact the library, or inquire in person at a circulation desk.
Teacher's Bag of Books

Traveling Book Sets
Do you lead a library book discussion? Are you a teacher who needs a book for your entire class? Or maybe you’re just a regular person who hosts an informal gathering of friends each month to discuss the same book. If this describes you, then the Aurora Public Library District can help!
The Library District can supply your Reading Club, Class, or Group with multiple copies of the same title through our Traveling Book Sets Program. Just select the title from the list and fill out the request form. The Library staff will send the books to local schools or public libraries. Individuals can pick up the books at either the Aurora or Dillsboro Library.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Libraries and schools must be within Indiana
- Schools must be able to receive and return sets through INfoExpress
Copies are allocated on a first come, first serve basis; so the sooner you make your request, the better chance you have of reserving the title.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
Walking Books
The Aurora Public Library District believes that all residents should be able to benefit from the library; everyone has the right to lifelong learning. Therefore, the library offers our homebound patrons the Walking Books program.
Any patron who due to age, injury, or disability is physically unable to come to the library, may participate in the program. You do not have to be a Senior Citizen to qualify.
Interested patrons should contact the Aurora Public Library at 812-926-0646 to begin the registration process. A Walking Books library staff member will reach out to the patron to complete the registration and to find out which items interest the patron the most.
Materials will be delivered once each month.
The participant is responsible for the care of the materials and must be willing to pay for any materials that are lost or damaged. If you have questions, or just want more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
