Between the Lines Returns!

Do you LOVE to read? Do you love trying new books and discussing them with friends? Pick up your book for the next Between the Lines Book Club today!

This January, BTL is reading Seven Days of Us by Francesca Hornak, perfect for reading in this cozy holiday season.

It’s Christmas, and for the first time in years, the entire Birch family will be under one roof. Even Emma and Andrew’s elder daughter—who is usually off saving the world—will be joining them at Weyfield Hall, their aging country estate. But Olivia, a doctor, is only coming home because she has to. Having just returned from treating an epidemic abroad, she’s been told she must stay in quarantine for a week…and so too should her family.

For the next seven days, the Birches are locked down, cut off from the rest of humanity—and even decent Wi-Fi—and forced into each other’s orbits. In close proximity, not much can stay hidden for long, and as revelations and long-held tensions come to light, nothing is more shocking than the unexpected guest who’s about to arrive…

See how the Birch Family’s holiday plays out in this delightful domestic family drama.

We have added a new meeting to our schedule to better suit your life! In addition to our January 26th meeting at 1:00 pm at the Aurora Public Library, we will also be meeting on January 31st at 6:30 pm at the Aurora Public Library! As always, we will be meeting at the Dillsboro Public Library on January 27th at 1:00 pm. Please feel welcome to attend any meeting that you wish, and keep an eye out for some delicious themed treats coming to your meeting this year!

We cannot wait to see you there! You can check out a BTL book now at the Aurora or Dillsboro Public Libraries with a library card.

You can also renew your items while we are closed by visiting our website at eapld.org, selecting “My Account” at the top of the page, logging in using the ID number on the back of your card and the pin you set up, and selecting the items you would like to renew. As a reminder, DVDs are unable to be renewed.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Show Off Your Cookie Skills!

It is the most wonderful time of the year. The snow is falling, the trees are twinkling, and the cookies are baking. The Aurora Public Library District is hosting a cookie contest! The contests will take place on Saturday, December 10 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at the Aurora Branch and on Wednesday, December 14, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. There will be three categories: Best Decorated, Best Tasting, and Best Overall. The best decorated and the best tasting will only have a first prize winner but the best overall will have a first and second place winner!

Dillsboro Town Manager Susan Greco will be judging the cookies entered for Dillsboro. Aurora Mayor Mark Drury will be the judge for the cookies entered for Aurora. The cookies can be dropped off up to an hour before the program officially begins. When you bring the cookies and enter them into the contest you must include the following: name, number, and if the cookie has nuts. Three cookies must be brought for each category, in case of a cookie mishap or if Santa gets hungry!

We can’t wait to taste your masterpieces!

Meet Santa’s Reindeer!

“What to my wondering eyes did appear but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer with a little old driver so lively and quick, I knew in a moment he must be Saint Nick.”

Have you ever seen Santa’s reindeer up close? Well, now is your chance! Santa’s reindeer are making their way to Aurora, Indiana this year for a test run of the sleigh and will be meeting kids just like you at the Aurora Lions Club on December 4th and 18th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Take pictures, pet and feed the reindeer, and maybe get a glimpse of Santa yourself! So be on your best behavior, because you don’t want to be put on the naughty list right before Christmas!

This event is proudly sponsored by the Aurora Public Library District. Check out these books today to get ready to meet the reindeer!

Animation Christmas Celebration

Everyone loves a good Christmas animation movie! Whether you’re 2 and can’t fully understand what’s going on or whether you’re 65 with your grandchildren! A good Christmas animation is good for the soul! Below is a list of some of my top favorite Christmas Animation movies available here at the library!

Shrek the Halls

Shrek and his group of rascals put their own spin on Christmas traditions! Just a little laughter to start off my Christmas season. Shrek is perfect for every season, but he’s even more amazing for the Christmas season!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

A mailman tells the origin story of Santa Claus. Everyone has to watch this the second Christmas season comes! It’s a classic and is definitely one of my most beloved.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Jack Skellington, the king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas and tries to bring it to his town! This movie is perfect for Halloween and Christmas, my two favorite Holidays!!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The Grinch who lives on the outskirts of Whoville, thinks to teach the Whos a lesson by stealing Christmas! I only like the one with Jim Carrey in it just because of his portrayal of the Grinch! He did such a wonderful job!!

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

The misfit Reindeer Rudolph journeys to find himself with a group of misfit friends. This classic tale has always been one of my favorites because who doesn’t love the tale of Rudolph!?

Disney’s A Christmas Carol

The classic animated tale of a scrooge on a tale of redemption. I only like Disney’s version, not any other kind, mainly because of how Disney took the story and made it wild and wonderful!
