Special Holiday Storytime!

Sugar cookies, frosting, sprinkles, PJs, robes, and slippers, oh my! Children will not want to miss our special storytimes on Saturday, December 17th at 1:00 p.m. located at our Dillsboro Library Branch, and Tuesday, December 20th at 6:00 p.m. at our Aurora Library Branch. “Cookies for Santa” is our agenda for both of these dates. Stories and activities will feature children decorating two cookies; one for themselves to enjoy and then one to keep and put out for Santa on his special night. Don’t worry, we have a special box to keep that special cookie for you know who!

We cannot wait to see you there! Please wear your coziest, warmest, snuggliest pajamas and get ready to read and eat!

Show Off Your Cookie Skills!

It is the most wonderful time of the year. The snow is falling, the trees are twinkling, and the cookies are baking. The Aurora Public Library District is hosting a cookie contest! The contests will take place on Saturday, December 10 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at the Aurora Branch and on Wednesday, December 14, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. There will be three categories: Best Decorated, Best Tasting, and Best Overall. The best decorated and the best tasting will only have a first prize winner but the best overall will have a first and second place winner!

Dillsboro Town Manager Susan Greco will be judging the cookies entered for Dillsboro. Aurora Mayor Mark Drury will be the judge for the cookies entered for Aurora. The cookies can be dropped off up to an hour before the program officially begins. When you bring the cookies and enter them into the contest you must include the following: name, number, and if the cookie has nuts. Three cookies must be brought for each category, in case of a cookie mishap or if Santa gets hungry!

We can’t wait to taste your masterpieces!

Celebrate with a Cookie!

Why not start off your holiday season with a stop by one of our library branches on Saturday, December 7th? Both the Aurora Public Library and the Dillsboro Public Library will have Christmas cookies to ice and sprinkle, and Peggy will be sharing some of our newest Christmas picture books. (One book is from a favorite tri-state children’s author.) The stories will be at 10:30 am at the Aurora Branch and at 11:30 am at the Dillsboro Branch. Cookies will be waiting for you between 10:30 am and 1 pm. The towns of Aurora and Dillsboro will have lots of “holiday happenings” that day, so you’ll be able to put cookies and books on your list of fun things to do!

Christmas Books and Cookies

The sprinkles are ready! The new Christmas books are here! All we still need is for you to mark this event on your calendar. We’ll be kicking off the holiday season with the Library District’s annual Christmas Cookies and Books program on Saturday, December 2nd. This program will be available at both branches and is open to all ages, whether you have children or not!
