Teen Book Club Reads “Renegades” by Marissa Meyer

Meet up with book lovers just like you for a discussion of Renegades by Marissa Meyer on Tuesday, May 23rd @ 4 pm. Free snacks and drinks will be provided. Stop by the Aurora or Dillsboro Library to pick up your copy today!

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone… except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

Everyone ages 13-19 is welcome to attend! We can’t wait to see you there!

Between the Lines Reads French Braid

Do you LOVE to read? Do you love trying new books and discussing them with friends? Pick up your book for the next Between the Lines Book Club today!

This April, BTL is reading French Braid by Anne Tyler, a family drama about the ties that bind, for better or worse.

The Garretts take their first and last family vacation in the summer of 1959. They hardly ever leave home, but in some ways they have never been farther apart. Mercy has trouble resisting the siren call of her aspirations to be a painter, which means less time keeping house for her husband, Robin. Their teenage daughters, steady Alice and boy-crazy Lily, could not have less in common. Their youngest, David, is already intent on escaping his family’s orbit, for reasons none of them understand. Yet, as these lives advance across decades, the Garretts’ influences on one another ripple ineffably but unmistakably through each generation.

Follow this family’s foibles along with your fellow readers this April.

We have added a new meeting to our schedule to better suit your life! In addition to our April 27th meeting at 1:00 pm at the Aurora Public Library, we will also be meeting on May 2nd at 6:30 pm at the Aurora Public Library! As always, we will be meeting at the Dillsboro Public Library on April 28th at 1:00 pm. Please feel welcome to attend any meeting that you wish, and keep an eye out for some delicious themed treats coming to your meeting this year!

We cannot wait to see you there! You can check out a BTL book at the Aurora or Dillsboro Public Libraries with a library card.

April Storytimes are HERE!

Spring is in the air and you know what that brings… baby animals! Our story times will be featuring cuteness overload of baby farm animals. Who can’t resist a fluffy bunny, or those cute little ducklings swimming on the pond? Wobbly legs are fun to watch as a colt is trying to walk and those adorable little pink noses of baby pigs. Your kiddos will be squealing with delight at all the baby animal activities we have planned.

Earth Day will also play a big part of our April story times as well. Take a trip through nature with Miss Tammy and the fun stories she has picked out for you!

We can’t wait to see all of those wiggly, squirming, smiling faces at our weekly story times. Happy Spring!

Teen Book Club Reads One of Us is Lying

Meet up with book lovers just like you for a discussion of One of us Lying by Karen M. McManus on Tuesday, April 25th @ 4 pm. Free snacks and drinks will be provided. Stop by the Aurora or Dillsboro Library to pick up your copy!

We will be meeting on Tuesday, April 25th @ 4 pm at the Aurora Public Library. Anyone 13-19 is welcome to attend!

Pay close attention and you might solve this:
On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention:

  • Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule

  • Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess

  • Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing

  • Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher

  • And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom alive. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. He died on a Monday. But that Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates. Now, all four of them are suspects in his murder. Are they guilty? Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
They all have a motive. They all have something to hide. They all have a history with Simon. And one of them is definitely lying.
