Book Sale Update

We’re updating the book sale at the Dillsboro Public Library! Starting in August, the book sale will no longer be open every day. Instead we will have 2-3 larger book sales throughout the year. The sale will be set up in the main room in the Dillsboro basement to allow us more room for all the great books people have donated to us! This change also gives us new opportunities to use the room the sale is currently housed in.

The sale will be open daily until July 31st, and the last $1-a-Bag Sale will be held on July 22nd and 23rd during normal business hours. Our first larger sale will be held in the fall, so check back to our blog, Facebook, and Instagram for updates and official dates.

Reading Moves You FINALE PARTY!

We want to celebrate YOU and all your reading this summer with a humongous summer party with SLED DOGS! Cool down with a snow cone from the Kona Ice truck and meet Karen Land and one of her sled dogs! Karen and her dogs have raced in sled races across the country, including racing in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska! Ask Karen your questions, snuggle a very cute doggo, and slurp up a snow cone or two! You deserve it for being a reader extraordinaire this summer!  Summer Reading Program Prizes will be announced and some other door prizes will be given away!

Karen and her sled dog will visit on July 28th, coming to the Dillsboro Public Library at 11 am and stopping by the Aurora Public Library at 6 pm. Make sure to bring all your friends and family! See you there!

Between the Lines Reads “Other People’s Children”

If you like to read a variety of books, and if you like to discuss the books you read, you should consider joining one of the Aurora Public Library District’s book groups. There will be afternoon groups that meet at the Aurora Public Library on July 28th @ 1:00pm and at the Dillsboro Public Library on July 29th @ 1:00pm. Both will be discussing Other People’s Children by Jeff Hoffman.

Pick up a book today to join our club and get reading!

Other People’s Children has been described as an “engrossing debut” novel (Laura Dave, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Thing He Told Me) about a couple whose dreams of adoption push them to do the unthinkable when their baby’s birth family steps into the picture.

Local History Trivia on Facebook!

Join us on our Facebook page on Mondays at 5 PM all summer long to play our Local History Trivia! Every week we’ll post a trivia question about Aurora or Dearborn County history. Comment the correct answer on the post to be entered for a chance to win a gift card to a local business!

You have until noon the following day to answer! Please post one answer per question. If there is a tie, a random winner will be chosen. If an exact answer is not given, a winner may be randomly chosen from those whose answers are closest. Trivia is open to everyone. APLD employees and their family are not eligible for a prize. Winners will be notified via Facebook Messenger.

All gift cards were paid for by the proceeds of our book sale at the Dillsboro Library!

Snap a Pic and WIN!

This summer at the Aurora Public Library District, there are so many different ways to win, including taking a selfie at our Selfie Station! Snap a pic upstairs in the Teen section at the Aurora Public Library or by the DVDs at the Dillsboro Public Library next time you come in to visit. If you post your photo on social media with the hashtag #APLDSummer, you will be entered to win a prize, just like that! Bring in friends and family to take pictures too! Each person can be entered in a chance to win with a social media post.

One entry counted per person per library. Prize awarded July 28th, 2022. Picture must include the Selfie Station background.
