Fun for Fall Break

The Aurora Public Library District has several events planned for Fall Break, the week of October 9-14. First, you should know that you are always welcome to bring your children ages 3-6 to the Storytime programs during school holidays. Especially at the Wednesday Storytimes at the Aurora Public Library, we will have fewer kids than normal, so we’ll be able to handle some drop-ins. The Dillsboro Storytime is on Tuesday, October 10th  at 10:30 a.m. and the Aurora Storytimes will be on October 11th at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The theme for the week will be “A Walk in the Woods”.

The Scarecrow's Hat by Ken BrownFor older, school-age children, the Dillsboro Library will be hosting “Pumpkins and Punch” on Tuesday, October 10th, from 2-4 p.m. This drop-in program will include stories, a pumpkin craft and a chance to decorate (and eat) pumpkin cookies.

On Thursday, October 12th, there will be a Family Fall Fun Day at the Aurora Public Library from 1-5 p.m. This is also designed as a drop-by event, but this event is open to all ages. We’ll have craft stations, food, stories, and more! The event will end at 5 p.m. with the judging of our Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

We are not decorating the pumpkins at the program, but drop your decorated pumpkin by the Library anytime before 5 p.m. to enter. We are asking for pumpkins to be decorated like book characters! Any age can enter the contest. We will be keeping the pumpkins on display until Friday the 20th of October. There will be prizes awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place pumpkins.
